Dating Apps You Will Actually Want to Use
Online dating is the digital tango between two ppl both in search of the same thing, companionship. In the past, I had so many reservations when it came to using dating apps. For one, I've seen too many catfish episodes and all the scary news headlines about dating app meetups that went tragically wrong to even consider it. However, as I moved to a new city and realized I didn’t have my circle of friends that typically knew a friend that knew a single friend, it was time for me to give the apps a try. I didn’t stop at one, I tried at least 4-5 apps. Plus, I did my research to figure out which dating apps were the best for the type of partner I was looking for. A few of my requirements included straight men, established in their career, and looking for something serious (hook up and dtf please exit stage left). Of all the apps I’ve tried, there were three that had the best candidates, were user-friendly, and had personal features. Check out my picks below:
Hinge
Known as the millennial dating app for good reason, Hinge was the first app I explored. It is my fave so far as the quality of men is up to par and the monthly price is only $29.99 which isn’t bad. It’s a good app if you’re looking for long-term relationships. Don’t just take my word for it, Hinge calls itself the dating app “designed to be deleted.”
Bumble
Let me start by saying Bumble was created by Whitney Wolfe Herd who co-created Tinder but left and sued the company after experiencing sexual harassment by an exec. So the back story alone is pretty badass/ girl boss. Bumble is the dating app for women who want to be empowered, and men who want to let women make the first move. I was a little skeptical because women have to do the initial outreach to a potential date and that can be a bit scary, but I’ve grown more comfortable with it. Plus, the monthly price of $39.99 isn’t bad either.
The League
If you’re a career woman looking for an elite partner, the league is for you. Let me start by saying this dating app is pretty exclusive, and they have a waitlist, not to mention the monthly price is $199.99+. The league is designed to bring successful, ambitious, elite singles together to breed power couples. Sounds interesting?! I’ve tried the league and it’s okay. Regarding the candidates, it is not a major difference from the other apps listed.
So, there you have it. If you are exploring dating apps, let me know which is your fave in the comments below.
