5 Cozy Fall Coffee Recipes You Can Make at Home (No Coffee Shop Run Required)
There is just something about Fall that makes me want to slow down in the morning, grab my favorite mug, and make a really good coffee.
And listen — I love a coffee shop run as much as anybody, but I have my own favorite barista at home (aka my man lol). Once he show me how easy it was to make some of my favorite fall drinks at home, I started experimenting with my own little coffee bar.
If you have an espresso machine — or you've been thinking about getting one — these are five easy fall coffee recipes I'd start with. Nothing overly complicated, no professional barista skills required, and you can adjust everything depending on how sweet or strong you like your coffee.
First: Do You Actually Need an Espresso Machine?
Technically? No.
But if you're someone who loves lattes, cappuccinos, iced espresso drinks, and coffee-shop-style drinks at home, an espresso machine makes a BIG difference.
I especially like the idea of a machine that can handle more than one type of drink because I don't want five different appliances sitting on my counter.
Three Espresso Machines to Consider
The Splurge: Ninja Luxe Café Premier(paid link)
If you're serious about creating a little coffee shop at home, this is the one I'd look at first. The Ninja Luxe Café combines espresso, regular coffee, and cold brew, and some models include features like a built-in grinder and frothing system.
The Middle: De’Longhi Dedica Deluxe Espresso Machine(paid link)
This is where I'd put an espresso machine that still gives you the ability to make lattes and cappuccinos at home without going all the way up to the premium price point.
The Budget Pick: Atatix Espresso Machine(paid link)
If you're not sure you're ready to spend several hundred dollars, start here. You really don't need the fanciest machine on the market to start experimenting with homemade lattes.
Now let's make the coffee.
1. Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte
This might be the easiest place to start because you probably already have most of the ingredients.
You'll Need
1–2 shots of espresso
1 cup milk of your choice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
A tiny splash of vanilla extract
Extra cinnamon for the top
How I Make It
Brew your espresso and stir the brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla into it while it's still hot.
Froth or warm your milk, pour it over the espresso, and finish with a little cinnamon on top.
That's it.
And if you're an iced-coffee-all-year person like me, make the espresso first, let it cool for a minute, add ice, and pour cold milk over it.
My little upgrade: Add a tiny drizzle of caramel around the inside of the glass before adding the coffee.
2. Maple Vanilla Latte
This one tastes like fall without screaming PUMPKIN at you.
You'll Need
2 shots espresso
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of cinnamon
How I Make It
Mix the maple syrup and vanilla into your freshly brewed espresso.
Add warm, frothed milk and sprinkle a little cinnamon on top.
If you like your coffee sweeter, add another little drizzle of maple syrup. I would start small, though, because maple syrup gets sweet fast.
Make it iced: Pour the espresso mixture over a full glass of ice and add cold milk.
3. Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
Okay, we can't talk about fall coffee and skip this one.
The good news is that making a pumpkin spice latte at home is actually pretty simple.
You'll Need
2 shots espresso
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
1–2 teaspoons maple syrup or brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Whipped cream, optional
How I Make It
In a small saucepan, warm the milk, pumpkin puree, sweetener, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla together.
Don't boil it — just get everything warm and combined.
Brew your espresso into your favorite mug and pour the pumpkin mixture over it.
Top with whipped cream and another sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice if you're feeling fancy.
And suddenly you've got the whole coffee-shop situation happening in your own kitchen.
4. Salted Caramel Latte
This is for the mornings when plain coffee is simply not going to do it.
You'll Need
2 shots espresso
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon caramel sauce
Tiny pinch of sea salt
Whipped cream, optional
Extra caramel for drizzling
How I Make It
Add caramel sauce to your hot espresso and stir until it's combined.
Froth your milk and pour it over the espresso.
Add a tiny pinch of sea salt — and I mean tiny. You want salted caramel, not ocean water.
Top with whipped cream and caramel if you want the full coffee-shop experience.
For an iced version: Add the caramel to the warm espresso first so it dissolves, then pour everything over ice and add cold milk.
5. Apple Crisp Oat Milk Latte
This is the one that's a little different, and I LOVE the idea of it for fall.
You'll Need
2 shots espresso
1 cup oat milk
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Tiny pinch of nutmeg
Splash of vanilla
How I Make It
Add the brown sugar, apple butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla to your freshly brewed espresso and stir well.
Warm and froth the oat milk, then pour it over the espresso mixture.
Sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
It gives you that warm apple-cinnamon flavor without tasting like you're literally drinking apple juice with coffee — because nobody asked for that.
My At-Home Fall Coffee Bar Essentials
Once you start making coffee at home, this is where it gets fun.
You absolutely don't need all of this, but these are the things I'd add over time:
Cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice
Caramel sauce
Maple syrup
Brown sugar
And this is also where I'd link things I actually use in my own kitchen. I don't want this site to become a giant page of random products. If I'm sharing something, I want it to either be something I use, something I've researched, or something I genuinely think is worth considering.
Which Espresso Machine Would I Choose?
If I were building my coffee setup from scratch and knew I was going to make coffee at home regularly, I'd put the Ninja Luxe Café at the top of my list.
What I like about the concept is that you're not buying something that only makes espresso. Depending on the model, the Luxe Café line can make espresso, drip coffee, and cold brew, while also helping with grinding and milk frothing.
But if you're just getting started, don't feel like you need the most expensive machine.
Pick the machine that fits your budget, grab a few ingredients, and start experimenting.
Because once you figure out your perfect latte at home?
That $7 coffee run starts looking a little different.
